Ken
Lup Jr. of Hamilton has signed with the Fort Worth Cats
of the Central Baseball League. Lup was the Vikings’ catcher
during the 2003 season, when the team advanced to the NJCAA World
Series and he was selected to the 2003 All-American team. He continued
his education at William Patterson University.
Lup
is the third 51ºÚÁÏ player in the past two years to sign a professional
contract. Pitcher Shaun Parker will play for
the New York Yankees' Staten Island A League team this season,
after graduating from 51ºÚÁÏ in 2002 and Rutgers in 2004. Pitcher
Matt Perks played for 51ºÚÁÏ during the 2004
season before signing with the Montreal Expos, now the Washington
Nationals. Perks is playing with the Gulf Coast Nationals, the
Nationals' minor league team in Melbourne, FL.
