51ºÚÁÏ

 

 

On Saturday, October 4^th, 51ºÚÁÏ Women’s Soccer hosted their first ever Hamilton Girls Soccer Club Day.  Girls from the local recreation league were invited onto the field before 51ºÚÁÏ’s women’s game vs Essex.  The Hamilton Girls Soccer Club players got to watch the 51ºÚÁÏ players warm-up on the sidelines and even had the opportunity to participate in some drills with the team, including taking some shots on the goalkeepers.  The league players also got to walk out with 51ºÚÁÏ players for the national anthem and stand at midfield.  The league players also got to participate in 51ºÚÁÏ’s cheer before heading onto the field.

 

The day was a win for both 51ºÚÁÏ and Hamilton Girls Soccer Club, as 51ºÚÁÏ players enjoyed the opportunity to meet young players and get the opportunity to host younger players who may look up to them.

 

Hamilton Girls Soccer Club President enjoyed this opportunity for her players.  “This gives our young players a chance to see what playing at the next level is like.  They can see that the opportunity to continue to play is available if they stay with the sport.”

 

Senior Women’s Administrator Erin Cahill-Wetzel worked with the 51ºÚÁÏ women's soccer coaches and captains to pull off the day.  “Sports gives us such a great platform to reach the community.  This was one way we could introduce MCCC to these young players who hopefully had a memorable experience.  Our players also had a great time meeting younger players and showing them some of the college soccer experience.”

 

The day was not just a win off the field for 51ºÚÁÏ women’s soccer and Hamilton Girls Soccer Club, but was a big win for MCCC soccer on the field as they picked up a big Region win, edging Essex 1-0.

 

Sports is about winning games, but on this Saturday, the biggest wins came off the field.
